Düve
van Boggelen
My name is Düve van Boggelen (1974) and I am a painter/artist.
I live and work in Appeldorn, a small village just across the
border in Germany. In the renovated farmhouse there is not only
my atelier where I make my artworks and give lessons in painting
and drawing, but there is also an exhibition area where I exhibit
my work and organize exhibitions of various other artists.
I have been working as an artist since 1997. I have had exhibitions
in various institutions and galleries in The Netherlands and
since 2002 in Germany as well, in the region where I live. I
not only sell my work to private people at their homes and during
exhibitions, but I also receive a lot of commissions for artwork
for various large companies all over The Netherlands. With regards
to technique, materials, colours and even content, my work is
very divers, because I make series. I start every series with
various - for me - new ingredients. With these I start my search
for artistic solutions. In the first picture I experiment very
carefully with different elements, and in the following pieces
I try out the possibilities in an ever more daring way. The
last piece in a series usually does not resemble the first in
any way.
"I am always searching for something new. That is because
I get bored quickly by what I’ve already seen from myself
. I want something unexpected, something I have never done before.
Artwork full of surprises. I don't paint from pictures in my
head but start working with materials or tools that fascinate
me at that moment. Usually it is a good piece of art when the
solutions come spontaneously and are not 'constructed'. Whenever
I buy materials with which I expect to make something, it will
not work out. A little bit of paint left on the corner of a
table by one of my art students does have an inspiring effect,
because it is 'accidental' and not 'planned'. A spontaneous
happening together with the artwork that I am working on form
a combination that has not been precipitated by me. A good piece
of art looks as if it has created itself. Then, when I have
finished it, I have the impression that it has always existed."
